SPRING ATTENDANCE APPEALS DUE:

STUDENT PROCEDURES FOR ATTENDANCE APPEALS

Students who are passing a class (60 or higher), but have violated the attendance policy by accumulating more than 8 unexcused absences in that class, will not receive credit for that course.  

If absences are attributed to extenuating circumstances, including but not limited to hospitalizations, lengthy illnesses treated by medical professionals, or other serious illnesses or injuries, an attendance waiver may be requested in order to appeal the loss of course credit. 

*Parents can view their child's attendance through the Power School Parent website. Parents will need a user name and password to use the Parent website. Parents must stop by the office and provide ID to receive their user name and password.

To appeal the denial of course credit due to excessive unexcused absences, students should:

  1. Review the Yadkin County Schools Attendance Policy (See link below).
  2. Pick up your Appeals Report and Student Attendance Questionnaire in the Pass Room during 3rd period on May 17, 2018.
  3. Verify with Mrs. Baity in the Pass Room that all doctor’s notes and other documentation for excused absences have been submitted.
  4. Complete and sign the Appeals Report form, and have your parent sign the Appeals Report form.
  5. Submit the Attendance Appeals form to the office on or before May 23, 2018.
     

Students will be notified of the result of their appeal in a timely manner.
